 Ai and its Effects on The Future


Artificial intelligence is becoming more and more prominent in the modern world, computers come with forms of it like Cortana or Siri and just about every new phone comes with either Siri Alexa Cortana or google assistant. As for whether you use it doesn't matter, it's no secret that it's useful for certain applications but not for others. For example, if you want to do simple things like yell at your phone to call someone or google something they are great but they don't do well with more complicated things. You can’t give them a list of things to do and they can’t really do anything aside from saving you a bit of time when navigating your smartphone or computer. 

This is where more advanced technology comes into play, a technology that allows computers to think on their own and formulate decisions on how to get something done and how to do it to the best of their abilities. One of the sections in the article I read on the topic gave an example regarding a paper clip maker, this was an AI tasked with making as many paper clips as it could. It talked about how they would use the given resources that he has easy access to and how when it used all of them it might go on to find some more thinking it's the right thing to do. After it used all the given resources the AI might think about how to get more like using everything in the world to make more, this in term would cause there to be a crazy amount of paper clips and no more paper clips making resources anywhere in the world. If it used all of our resources then it could drive us into extinction., of course, the AI didn't know or care considering its one job is to make as many paper clips as possible so far as the AI is concerned a job well done. My point is that this may seem like a good idea but releasing this sort of technology into the world is not a good idea because it has no limits. Once people have a secure way to control the intelligence and make sure it doesn't go off the rails it could be a viable option to make paper clip production much better. 

There are also arguments about the economy and how robots and artificial intelligence taking over jobs and how people would be pushed out of work making the economy crash. It's certain that this could be an issue and the people who are making these intelligent computers need to know how to manage everything on a global scale and ensure nothing like this will happen.

    Ben, do you think that the limits of AI can be controlled by the people who create it, or will the AI figure out on its own how to exceed the limits?

    wow I never really though about paper clip making robots causing paper clip making resources to disappear if we made a specifically designed paper clip making robot ai. Very eye widening, and definitely helps me understand that robots are an absolute threat, and paper clip robots are an even bigger threat, thank you ben for helping me understand that.

  Internet ads and why people don't like them  If you go on the internet frequently, chances are you have seen an abundance of advertisements everywhere you go. Google is often the source of the ads that seem to consume you wherever you visit online. When ads are custom tailored to something you were just researching or something you just bought it's called a cookie. Cookies are based on an algorithm in order to push you to buy something relevant to what you were just looking at or had previously purchased.
